BENEO announces price increase for prebiotic ingredients
inulin and oligofructose
BENEO, a leading manufacturer in functional ingredients, has today announced a price increase for its prebiotic fibres, inulin and oligofructose. The list price of these ingredients will increase by 8 percent as of January 2012.
BENEO’s inulin and oligofructose prices have remained stable for the past two years during which the company was subject to inflation as well as rising costs in energy and raw materials; mainly chicory root in Belgium and Chile, from which BENEO’s inulin and oligofructose are derived.
Dominique Speleers, Commercial Managing Director at BENEO-Orafti explains: “Taking into account the security of supply, the product quality, the service and support we provide as well as the technological and nutritional benefits of our active fibres, we are convinced that we continue to offer very good value for money. Such a move will also allow us to further satisfy ever increasing quality standards and demand for our products.”
BENEO’s inulin and oligofructose are prebiotic fibres improving the balance of the body’s intestinal flora by stimulating beneficial bifidobacteria. At the same time they replace fat or sugar and can reduce the caloric value without altering taste and texture. Also, the absorption of minerals such as calcium is promoted and recent research shows that oligofructose supports a lower energy intake and thus helps to reduce weight.
